Photo direction and production

Make the image do more.

Frame Relay builds deliberate, human photography for people, brands and objects. We keep the process calm, clear and useful from first brief to final delivery.

A working principle

Good preparation makes room for a better moment.

Before a session, we agree the purpose of the images, the mood, the practical constraints and where the work will live. The shoot can then stay focused on what is actually in front of the lens.

From the journal

What to decide before a portrait session.

Start with where the image will be seen. A speaker profile, an annual report and a personal website all ask the same person to communicate something different. Bringing that purpose into the brief gives the shoot a useful starting point.

We also suggest choosing clothes you can move and breathe in. The point is not to arrive with a finished performance; it is to make enough space for an honest expression to appear.
